Rogue Warrior

Bethesda gaming company, makers of Fallout and Oblivion, have released their new modern shooter in Rogue Warrior. This is a far cry from games like Fallout which were RPGs, and will be interesting to see how this game unfolds. Will Rogue Warrior be able to live up to standards set by the games before it? Here is my review.

Long story short, Rogue Warrior might be the worst game to come out this year. The campaign is only 2 hours long. Its hard to understand the story over the massive amount vulgar language. The game is also to straight forward, and boring. There is a lot of action, but just not anything to get excited over. The idea behind this game is to be stealthy. However the AI is retarded so you don't have to be all that sneaky. The only good thing that I have read about this game is that the close quarter combat looks pretty sweet. It does not look like much time went into the production of this game. Therefore it received a grade that reflects that with a 2.0. I have never seen a game score so low, and that is really saying something.

In Rogue Warrior, you play as Dick "Demo Dick" Marcinko. Seriously, what kind of name is that? Anyway you are fighting against the Russians and Koreans. Over what I don't know because all the review did was cut down the game, and did not even mention the campaign. There is multiplayer with only 2 modes, deathmatch and team deathmatch. No prizes, no perks, no rewards, no nothing. Basically what I am gettin at is avoid this game.

And Bethesda is asking full price...come on, really?

Getting Banned on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Starting December 2, Xbox live will be banning anyone who frequently abuses the "javelin glitch". Basically whats happens is a player switches to the javelin missile launcher after cooking a semtex grenade by holding down the grenade throw button. This locks the player's actions, but once the player dies the javelin missile explodes, killing all enemies in the area. The punishment for the exploitation of this glitch will result in a banning of up to 24 hours, a week and in some cases maybe even permanently.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. Activision is just mad because someone found a loophole in the multiplayer. This kind of stuff happens all the time, and I don't know why this is making so much news. This is no different than the martyrdom perk, where a player drops a live grenade after dying. They are planning to fix the glitch in their next patch so I don't know why they feel the need to ban people. Kudos to who ever found the glitch. Keep on gaming.

Here is a video on how to do the glitch.

Need a quick 1000 GS?

Being a gamer on the Xbox 360 console, I am constantly after these little things called achievements. Basically what they are is rewards for accomplishing tasks throughout a game. Most games have like 50 or so achievements. Many are hard to get, and some just come from story progression. Anyway when you get an achievement you receive points based on the difficulty to unlock it which adds to your gamerscore. Personally I love the challenge that getting achievements provides. It gives me motivation to completely beat the game in order to boost my gamer score. Currently my gamerscore is 15,670, fairly high for a gamer.

In the gaming world the higher your GS, the more likely people will think that your good a playing videogames. So here are some games that are extremly easy to get 1000 GS on which is the maximum.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Fight Night Round 3
LEGO Indiana Jones
Most the the Madden Games
Prey
King Kong
Bioshock (easy 700-800 by beating the game)
Enchanted Arms
Oblivion
Need for Speed Most Wanted

I don't have many of these games on my console. For most games obtaining achievements are extremely difficult. But the time put in reaps great rewards. Nothing feels better than getting some achievements that many gamers don't have. Currently I am working on the Call of Duty:MW2 achievement for beating all Spec Op missions on veteran. This is extremely hard to do but it will pay off eventually.

The Saboteur

Electronic Arts has just released a historic thriller in The Saboteur. EA is notoriously known for its sports games, and Dead Space so it will be interesting to see how they approach this WW ll action adventure. Will it be able to deliver a punch like many other WW ll games, or will it just fall to the wayside as a mediocre attempt to refuel a WW ll based game? Here is my review.

The Saboteur is a very interesting game to play because of the color and graphic system in place. The is mostly in black and white with only a few things having color like torches, blood, the red on Nazi uniforms, and cut scenes. It makes for a very intriguing style of play and gives a new feeling to gaming. Along the campaign you receive perks the gives the gamer rewards much like in Call of Duty. Some of the bad things are driving vehicles is difficult and not smooth. The stealth techniques and kills are not up to par as they have pretty much been used in many other games. For example the are like a million games out there where you sneak up behind someone and break their neck. The game overall does not provide an explosive to idea to gaming therefore it received a 7.5.

Your play an angry Irish man named Sean Devlin who is out to kill the Nazis to avenge the death of his brother. So you patrol the streets of Paris taking out top Nazi officers and stealing high importance items. The campaign is explosive and fun. Killing Nazis is pretty much the focal point of the game. One thing I do like about the game is that is open world. This means that you can do things at your own pace and don't have to follow a strict storyline where one thing happens right after the other.

HIS POWER LEVEL..IT'S OVER 9000!!

In case you couldn't catch the reference, I was talking about Dragonball Z. I used to watch that show religiously everyday when I was younger. Of course I grew out of it and moved on to bigger and better things. While I was searching for blog topics I found that DBZ released a new game called DB: Raging Blast. I had only played a DBZ game once or twice so I decided to look into the newest installment. Here is my review.

Just from reading other reviews, it seems like this games has many pros and cons. The game is said to capture the feel of the Dragonball world. The characters bring back the nostalgic feeling that DBZ fans would enjoy. The controls are easy to learn, but hard to master. Really, it reminds me of any other beat-em-up game consisting of button mashing galore. Nonetheless DBZ fans will be happen to play as all their favorite characters as the list consists of nearly everyone associated with Dragonball. Some of the bad aspects include lack of fighting depth, and there is not much of a fighting differential between the characters. Overall DB: Raging Blast received a 6.0.

The game consists all modes that fighting games have like arcade, survival, and time trial. But the most interesting aspect is the scenario mode called the Dragon Battle Collection. Basically you play thorough some of the major storylines like the Saiyan Saga, and the Android/Cell Saga. Also this mode includes some what if moments. For example what if Cell won the tournament, you would see how the world would have been affected. But reviewers said that this made the story fuzzy and more confusing.

Finally Square Enix...Finally

March 9, 2010: write it on your calenders, tattoo it on your body do whatever you can to remember this date. This day will be every gamers dream. I will probably be barricaded in my room living off food reserves. I will not be answering any calls, texts, people coming to my door or even my RA..ok maybe my RA. In case you haven't heard Square Enix has set a release date for Final Fantasy 13. This game will basically the single best game anyone has ever played. If your not a gamer and want to start, get this game first. The hype around this game is almost equal to that of Modern Warfare to if that tells you anything. Final Fantasy franchise has stood the test of time. From beginning to end the games have exceeding above par providing gamers with in-depth storyline, and the later games have superb graphics. I have played every Final Fantasy made so far except FF11 because it was origionally released of the PC. The bottom line is that FF13 sould be amazing considering Square Enix pushed the release date many times.
