Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2
On 9/15 one of the most anticipated games of the year hit stores. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 is the long awaited sequel to the first Marvel in 2006; gamers have been pushing for the completion of this game that has been in the works for years now. But would it live up to the hype that the gaming world built it up to be? Here is my review.
I read what other sites had to say and made a list of the good and bad things experienced within the game. Good news first: Marvel provided an array of characters which in turn provides a lot of opportunities for players to mix and match to their liking. Also, the campaign is very long, just like the first game, which makes the replay value much higher. It also offers a variety of side quests and games that provide the gamer with more options rather than simply adhering to the main story line. However, there is a dark to every light. The voice acting was not good, and there were some small technicalities that caused the game to glitch up. Overall, the game was what the people wanted. On average, sites gave it a 7.5.
As far as the story line, there is a "civil war" between the heroes as the government passes a new act which basically says that super heroes must register and have an ID card. This of course caused a riff between the heroes. One side is against the act and the other chooses to obey the law. You get to choose whose side you want which in turn gives the game multiple endings. Marvel lived up to the hype delivering other great button mashers of a game. The new additions gave it more replay value along with the introduction of new heroes not used in the first Marvel. To anyone who is a huge Marvel fan, this will not disappoint.
This is my first post so try not to be too harsh. Comment below
UA 2 was definitely a highly anticipated game, but I'm not sure it was for any real gameplay value associated with it, but because people like watching their favorite Marvel characters destroy everything in their path. When this game came out, I had actually been waiting for it to come out for a while, because the randomness of the competitive mode of the first made the game unpredictable, to the point where the main enjoyment of the game was trying to guess who would win a particular map. Overall, I think the game was good enough to play, except they took out the almighty Moon Knight!
